Short version: we collect what we need to send you a candle and tell you when the next one drops. We don’t sell your data. We don’t share it. We’re good at keeping secrets — it’s sort of our whole thing. The long version’s below, and it’s still in plain English.
What we collect
- Order info: name, shipping address, email, phone if you give it, and what you bought. We need this to ship you the thing.
- Payment info: handled by our payment processor at checkout. We never see or store full card numbers.
- Email signups: if you hand us your email, it goes into our own database, on our own server, and nowhere else. No third-party email company. No list broker. Nobody. It never leaves the building. We use it to tell you about drops. That’s the whole job.
- Site analytics: we count page views with a privacy-first tool that uses no cookies and can’t tell who you are. We see “someone looked at Afterhours.” We don’t see “you, specifically, looked at it.” We’re nosy about the candles, not about you.
What we don’t do
- Sell your data.
- Share it with advertisers.
- Track you across the rest of the internet.
- Kiss and tell.
Who sees your information
Only the services we need to actually run a candle company: our payment processor, our shipping carriers, our hosting provider. Notably not on that list — any email marketing company. Your email stays with us, on our own server, because we never handed it to anyone. Everyone else sees exactly what they need to do their one job and not a thing more. If we ever swap a vendor, this page changes first.
Cookies
Essential cookies keep your cart from forgetting itself. That’s about it — our analytics is cookieless, so there’s no little tracker trailing you from site to site. Block cookies anytime; everything still works, your cart just gets amnesia.
Your rights
Whenever you like, you can ask us to:
- Show you everything we’ve got on file for you
- Fix anything that’s wrong
- Delete you entirely, like we never met
Email hello@dwellingflame.com and we’ll sort it within 30 days. In California, the EU, or the UK? You’ve got extra rights under CCPA and GDPR. Same email, same answer.
Marketing emails
Every email has a one-click unsubscribe. No logging in, no form, no asking “are you sure?” three times. You’re free to go whenever. We’ll leave the light on.
Changes
If we update this, we change the date below. Anything material gets an email, if we have your address.
